Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 13, Burgos to Hornillos del Camino.

Today’s start was a lovely cool river walk through Burgos, we also saw the magnificent Cathedral. As we left the city there were many modern brightly painted pilgrim ironworks. Burgos is  certainly a beautiful place to visit.

Once we moved on from the city our route headed out into what is often described as the wilderness of the Meseta which translates to Plateau. This area is mostly covered in crop fields with wheat on the better ground and barley and oats on the higher and poorer ground. There is hardly any shade but our journey was broken up by the two villages of Tardajos and Rabe de Las Calzades.

It’s been a day of lovely walking and spectacular views.
