Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 18, Bridgwater to Sedgemoor Services.

When planning the route from Bridgwater to Sedgemoor Services, two options emerged. The first was the no doubt peaceful and picturesque coastal path, the second was pavements along the  noisy A38 which would be definitely less peaceful and picturesque. But, as the A38 route was half the distance of the coastal path, that’s what we went for. One of our key bits of equipment is the Street View app allowing us to see what we face on upcoming roads, giving us reassurance that the A38 option was quite safe. We also had wonderful views of the Welsh coast for much of the day. Crossing the Huntspill River was quite spectacular too. The only hill of any height today was Brent Knoll and our route skirted around it.
However the best bit of the day came at the end. Kevin’s brother and sister in law, David and Stacey, texted to say they were on their way to Cornwall from Lancashire. Incredibly, they were approaching our overnight stop. It was wonderful to see them and have a great catch-up.

  1. Wow how lovely to have a surprise meet up with Stacey and David ! Although a bit sneeky as no walking involved 🤔
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow, walking boots at the ready!
