Our route out of Leon took us past every aspect of city life from industry to a very impressive looking luxury hotel!
On leaving the city we had a choice of two routes. We took the very quiet path across the paramo which translates to wilderness land. It certainly was barren wasteland with not much evidence of farming. There was, however, lots of Spanish broom which apparently thrives in these arid conditions.
We’ve again been through very small hamlets with few facilities. We also had our first rain since leaving The Pyrenees, so it was time to get the waterproofs out for an airing!
Just a few photos today as there is very patchy internet connection in the very remote area we are staying in. Early start tomorrow for 19 mile walk to Astorga!
