We had a real treat on our rest day when Rick and Anne Walker came to see us. It was lovely to go out for coffee, cake and a catch up. Thank you so much for making the journey to visit us as we make our way North.
A change to our planned route today, we decided to make the journey to Tewkesbury on our ‘old friend’ the A38. When we checked out the routes this was three miles shorter than The Severn Way with paths the whole distance. We were really pleased with our choice. In Gloucester we had a good look at parts of the city centre including the regenerated dock area. The highlight, however, came when we walked past Gloucester Rugby ground and were able to go in to take pictures.
This part of the A38 turned out to be quiet with very few lorries. It passed through lovely countryside and interesting small villages. The best view of the day came when we could clearly see the entire length of The Malvern Hills to our West. The view of Tewkesbury Abbey came a close second!
