Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 26, Tewkesbury to Worcester.

After our successful route along the A38 yesterday we decided to head towards Worcester in the same way. When we checked it all out using street view we were pleased to find footpaths the whole distance.

As today was a long walk we had a very early start and make the most of the quiet paths and cool weather. Once again the road passed through lovely countryside and we had wonderful views of The Malvern Hills for most of the day. Lovely! We were very lucky to meet Kate in the village of Severn Stoke. We had a great chat and she had lots of helpful information for us. Thanks Kate!

The highlight of the day was moving into Worcestershire. County number five! Our day finished with a walk through the historic Worcester City centre and great views of the cathedral.

  1. Home turf for us, lovely Worcester! Another of your Severn bridges. Hope the rain tomorrow doesn’t dampen your spirits!

Question for Q&A – does Janet always walk on your left or your right or do you alternate positions!!!!!!

    Sal 🙂

  2. Had you entered the cathedral both Jan and Kev could have taken the opportunity to view King John’s thumb bone which is proudly displayed there. Worcester may be known for being the home of arguably one of the most picturesque county cricket grounds but less well-known is King John’s connection to Worcester. The Cathedral Library holds some fascinating documents and artefacts relating to the king, including his will, his thumb bone and a fragment from his burial clothes. John was a frequent visitor to the town. He is known to have stayed here on at least nine occasions, both as an envoy of his brother and also as king.
You can rely on me to fill in any fascinating omissions guys, when it comes to Worcester I am the source (or is it sauce?)

  3. Good to see the old Malvern hills again and Worcester. Another cricket ground, by the river and usually plenty of swans.
