Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 27, Worcester to Kidderminster.

Another early start today as we knew we had a long day ahead. Going through Worcester City Centre we saw some very ornate gates and thought we’d take a picture. Absolutely no idea what they are or what the building is!

Today saw a change from the A38, we followed the A449 instead! There were great paths along this busy road and lots of countryside and the very interesting village of Ombersley just off the road too. We even came across some horses tethered on the grass on the side of the road. Using the roads has worked out really well for us and has saved a few miles, however, the previous detours mean we have still done more miles than we planned! Another reason for using the roads was several people had told us about very overgrown paths on The Severn Way.

One thing we have noticed on this adventure is how friendly and helpful everyone is. This was definitely the case when we called into The Leaking Well Inn. Staff and customers were so friendly and interested in our walk. Thank you everyone!

As we neared the end of the day we met up with Steve from Stoke on Trent who was cycling LEJOG in reverse JOGLE. We had a good chat about different parts of the journey before he headed South and we headed North.

On our final walk into Kidderminster through an industrial estate we were wowed by the beautiful flowers on the roundabouts and couldn’t resist a picture.

  1. A very diverse day for you. Steve has answered one part of my question !
Exciting as you enter another county.

  2. Those wild flower islands are all along the main Kidderminster roads and an absolute delight in the summer months.
