Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 3, Zubiri to Pamplona.

The Camino Frances certainly passes a variety of scenery and today showed us the full range. We began by leaving Zubiri and passing the town’s industry which produces Magnesium Oxide. This was quickly followed by lovely paths through beautiful countryside with many wild flowers along the edges.

There’s been ups and downs along the whole route, but nothing like the previous two days. However, there has been lots and lots of mud! Great concentration has been needed again, especially on the downhill sections. We’ve also had plenty of rain but some lovely sunshine at last.

The small town of Arre was very pretty with an intricate meeting of waterways and a lovely bridge. Of course, we’ve been walking through Basque County too and it was great to sample some of the local chocolate. Finally we have arrived in the city of Pamplona, the biggest stop along The Way. It’s most famous for The Bull Run which luckily happens in July and not April! Fingers crossed, the weather forecast is looking better for tomorrow.
