Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 34, Lavacolla to Santiago de Compostela.

Woohoo we’ve made it to Santiago de Compostela.

After yet another very early start, this time to beat the crowds, we arrived at the famous cathedral at 9am. The square was quite quiet but already starting to fill with lots of people. It was a busy morning for us as we then went to The Pilgrims Office to collect our certificates and to the spectacular Pilgrims Service at The Cathedral. It was amazing to hear that people had travelled from so many starting points to make their journeys.

We’ve had a great time on The Camino Francés. We’ve had all sorts of weather from snow to heatwaves. Our climbs have taken us to nearly 5,000 feet, the scenery has changed every single day. Most of all we’ve met the most amazing people and it has been great to share parts of the journey with people from all over the world.

Thank you for following our journey and for all the messages, texts, emails and phone calls. It’s been an amazing adventure with lots of challenges, but we like a challenge!

  1. Complete respect for my absolutely amazing sister and brother in law! In awe of everything they have achieved. But to be honest if they invite me for a walk any time soon I may decline.

  2. Well done both. An amazing achievement. You must be exhausted but extremely proud of yourselves and rightly so! Enjoy your well deserved rest. I’ve looked at the blog and can’t believe the changes in weather you have had to cope with but compensated by the wonderful views and sights along the way. Just great! Sal and Boyd x
