Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day, 33, Arzua to Lavacolla.

So, it was yet another very early start for a long day of walking.

Arzua actually became quite busy with lorries as we walked down the high street. We were very happy to quickly move onto paths and gain height to see the lovely sunrise.

We were also very pleased to reach our early morning breakfast stop and see the sign they had displayed saying just 33 km to Santiago. As we travel along The Camino we need to collect stamps each day to prove we have covered the route. We’ve been very careful not to miss any, especially now we are so close.

Much of our journey today has been on lovely paths through woodlands. Many of these have been incredibly tall eucalyptus trees. Other parts of our route have been on not quite so pleasant paths next to roads!

We’ve also seen lots of wild flowers and this unusual display of discarded boots and shoes!

It’s been a long day but now we just have 7 miles to go to Santiago de Compostela tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
