Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 59, Inversnaid to Crianlarich.

This morning started in the same way as yesterday finished but for much longer. Lots of ups and downs, twists and turns, tree roots and rocks! It was really hard walking that required lots of early morning concentration. Great views though!

As this finished we came across the remote Bothy of Doune Byre. This is situated in a beautiful place close to the edge of the loch. Once past this point the path became mainly easier but still with lots of ups and downs. In one open area we were surprised to come across a wild goat. It was certainly enjoying munching away on the grass!

One feature of the walk was the many small bridges which cross the small streams and waterfalls coming down from the mountains. Another feature of the day was the absolutely torrential downpour at lunchtime. Unfortunately Forestry Scotland Ranger Sally wasn’t there to save us this time!

Our day finished out in the beautiful Scottish hills and the rain had stopped too. A good end to what had been a very demanding start to the day.

  1. Such a lovely part of the world. Shame about the rain but as the others said it brings out the lushness. Loving the day by day diary.

  2. Wow amazing photos what a stunning area to walk in. I am sure not many people have witnessed the beauty.
