Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 65, Clunes to Invergarry.

We said goodbye to Gwyneth and Andy this morning and headed back to Loch Lochy. Thank you so much for a wonderful time, it’s been great to catch up.

Since we’ve been in the Fort William area we’ve seen lots of logging lorries. Today we found out where some of them were coming from! As we walked along forest tracks we could see the evidence of many log piles and trees ready for felling. It was great to be on good tracks with clear views right across the loch. Our lunch stop today was at Laggan Locks which allows boats to pass from Loch Lochy along The Caledonian Canal to Loch Oich. A very peaceful stop!

After crossing the canal on a very small bridge it was more forest tracks and then a wider bridge back across the canal. The views from this bridge were just so beautiful all the way down Loch Oich. After a short stretch of road walking we ended up as we had spent most of the day back on forest tracks, this time with wide open views across to a small wind farm.

Our finish saw us cross The River Garry to reach our destination of Invergarry. It’s been a great day’s walking.
