Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 67, Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit.

As has become a regular start to recent days, this morning began with a very steep climb. This time we saw lots of clouds and mist and also a stunning view of Loch Ness! We quickly climbed to 1,000ft on good forest tracks and footpaths with more views of the loch. The views of the hills and mountains on the other side of the loch were also incredibly picturesque. It felt like a real privilege to be so high up looking down on such wonderful views.

This has definitely been a day of lots of ascent and descent and also waterproofs on and off. It’s also been a day where we made poor choices of where to stop. Twice we decided we needed a break only to find benches just 30 metres after we had restarted! Also a much advertised and very remote cafe was just so full when we got there we decided to give it a miss. Hopefully better luck tomorrow!

After spending most of the day on forest tracks we then followed very remote and quiet roads to reach Drumnadrochit. It’s been another day with hardly any walkers and just a few cyclists.

  1. Rain, rolling mist……you must be in Scotland!

Stunning pics, glad you are still enjoying the trek. Onwards and upwards.

    Much love

  2. You are sat on your bum in your garden in Brockenhurst aren’t you Kev. You expect me to believe there is really a place called Drumnadrochit, you have to be making it up.
