Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 10, Lake to Whiddon Down.

After the torrential rain of yesterday it was great to see blue skies and sun for much of the day.

We started out along the Granite Trail and had a much better view of Sourton Tors and also Sourton church.  On the trail we met a man who had walked LEJOG twice in a very ingenious way. He drove his car to the start point each day, walked his route, caught the bus back using his bus pass and then drove his car to where he had finished the day, ready to start the next day!  It was great to chat to him and, of course, we had lots of questions!

Shortly afterwards we walked over the very impressive Meldon Viaduct, the views were amazing. It spans 165metres over the remains of mineral mines close to Okehampton.

Walking on trails meant we made good time which gave us time for a scone today. A real treat!
