Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 11, Whiddon Down to Crediton.

We started our day crossing the very busy A 30 and making our way, on verges, around the equally busy roundabouts to find the quiet road towards Crediton.

Much of the route has been spent on The Two Moors Way, a long distance path across Devon which takes in both Dartmoor and Exmoor. We gradually saw Dartmoor disappear into the distance and at one point could also see Exmoor ahead. The views have just been spectacular and seemed to go on and on and on. We have been very lucky.

A real feature of today has been the early purple orchids. Such vibrant colours. We’d like to say we could go on mastermind identifying hedgerow flowers but we couldn’t! We use the Seek app, it’s great for identifying flora and fauna in the countryside.

If we find a bench for lunch it is a real bonus, and today we were lucky and found one on a lovely little station in the rural village of Yeoford.  A great find!

  1. Great to see you making such good progress. Hope the weather continues to be kind. Wonderful time for spotting orchids and other wild flowers.

  2. You didn’t bump into Joe and Gill then? Glad to see the journey is going well and the purple orchids an added bonus!
