Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 40, Preston to Garstang.

We had a great rest day yesterday visiting Avenham Park next to the River Ribble. It was really beautiful and so peaceful.

This morning we decided to head along the straight A6 to Garstang to save a few miles from the winding canal. Of course this meant we, once again, passed under the M6.

It’s turned out to be a really interesting day with some unexpected surprises. The first village we came to was Barton with it’s lovely sandstone church. The second village was Bilsborrow, here we met a group of people on an Equal Votes Walk. They had walked from Grasmere and were finishing today in Preston. Our final village was Catterall, as we neared the village we realised there were more and more people gathering until we couldn’t really move. It was carnival time, we really didn’t want to end up on a float in the parade! It was great to watch though. We’ve had some lovely views of The Trough of Bowland too.

Our day ended meeting Janet’s cousin John and Paul. It was great to meet them and have a catch up. Thank you for moving our main kit tomorrow too!
