Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 41, Garstang to Lancaster.

We have noticed that there are flags out in every place we visit, Garstang was no exception. Hopefully they are for us, or has there been another event going on!

Our route today continued on the A6 with great views of The Trough of Bowland again. We had arranged to meet Janet and Ian at the junction with Preston Brook and join the canal. It was great the meet point worked and to see them waving at us as we reached the final stretch of the A6.

We joined the canal by walking over the bridge with a great view of the lock. This time The Lancaster Canal. It’s been quite a quiet canal with only a few narrow boats. Great paths though and really lovely and green. As we got to Lancaster, things changed and it certainly became busier. It was a lovely approach to the city with interesting buildings and lots of swans too. It’s been really great to walk this stretch of the canal together and have a good catch up. Thank you so much for travelling to walk with us as we make our way North. Ian has recently cycled LEJOG with Janet supporting. Thank you also for all the information you were able to give us about the next parts of our journey.

Thanks too to John and Paul for moving our main kit today.

  1. Lovely to see you both again after all this time! We thoroughly enjoyed our walk with you. Buses worked out fine on the return trip and we’re now back in Glossop. Enjoy the rest of your walk. We’ll be watching your progress. X
