Janet and Kevin’s Very Big Walk

Day 54, Strathclyde to Glasgow.

It’s been a very different walk to yesterday. Today has been all about heading into the centre of Glasgow, much of it through busy areas.

We started out by working out the best way to cross the busy network of roads that was in front of us as we needed to get to the other side, of course! We needn’t have worried as there was an amazing set of bridges in place to see us safely across. They even had great views.

Our walk took us along sections of The Clyde Way but no River Clyde to be seen at times, just brightly coloured walls! We did cross it at one point. We have dipped back into South Lanarkshire and also officially walked past the sign for The City of Glasgow.

A highlight of the day was passing the very impressive Parkhead Stadium, home to Celtic Football team. It really does dominate the area and you can see it for a long way before actually walking past. Equally impressive was the National Indoor Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome opposite. Finally we walked into the city centre and past Central Station. It was very, very busy, a real shock to the system after spending so much time in the quiet countryside.
