We headed out this morning from Bonar Bridge along a quiet A road. This ran right alongside the beautiful Kyle of Sutherland giving us amazing early morning views.
From here we took an incredibly small single track road which had passing places all along and had very few cars but lots of cyclists. This ran alongside The River Shin, another well known salmon fishing area.
Our route then took us out onto the open moors with just a few, very isolated, houses. Finally we crossed Loch Shin to arrive in Lairg. As we walked along the Loch we were interested to see The Wee Hoose that was built on a small island. This was built for a festival and in recent years has become a well known tourist attraction in the area!
We were intending to stop in Lairg but had made really good time and so did a few extra miles. This gave some fantastic views towards Beinn Sgeireach and reduces the mileage tomorrow!
